新西村位于罗镜镇，陈氏始祖于1510年迁入，是村内最早的居民。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

约明代落户建村，当时属泷水县三都。清代属罗定州三都镇南乡。清末至民国时期隶属罗定县第四区万车团，1931年至1941年隶属第四区，之后隶属第一区。1950年后归罗定县第七区，1958年后属连州公社、新榕公社。1961年6月设生产大队，1962年与另一生产大队合并重组。1983年8月改为新西乡，属新榕区；1986年11月乡制撤销，改为新西村民委员会。[2]

姓氏宗族[edit]

陈氏始祖英才于1510年由南雄珠玑一带迁来，是村内最早的居民；蔡氏始祖维伦同年自珠玑巷迁入。村中现有陈、蔡、梁、李等多个姓氏，陈姓为大姓。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，新西村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
