沙木村是历洞镇下辖的行政村，下辖东里、沙木、望天、林塘、大垌等自然村。[1][2]

村名源于村中一棵古树：相传树下有泉水，能治“沙气病”，村因此称沙木。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1708年，莫氏先人迁到沙木大洞定居，此后黄、赵、祝、严等姓相继迁入，莫姓人口占全村61%。[3]

建国后属历洞行政村。1958年设沙木生产大队，1983年改设乡人民政府，1987年改为沙木村委会，1989年改为管理区办事处，1999年复称村委会。村委会驻地曾于1997年迁至社冲口路边。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予村庄「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[2]

2022年12月，村庄被命名为第四批「云浮市民主法治示范村（社区）」。[2]
