大社村位于宝珠镇境内。村名来自旧时乡民迁入此地后设立的大社坛，乡民借此祈求一方平安，村因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代初年，杨姓从大方镇迁入此地，此后又有多个姓氏陆续迁入，村落由此形成。[2]

明、清两代，此地归太平都辖管，民国年间属连城乡。[2]此后数年间，本村先后划归郁南县第二区、建城区与宝珠乡；1958年至1961年间，村为东方红、宝珠两个人民公社下的大社生产大队。[2]1983年改为宝珠区的大社乡人民政府；1987年改称宝珠乡大社村民委员会；1989年设为大社管理区办事处；1993年起属宝珠镇人民政府；1999年又恢复为宝珠镇大社村民委员会的名称。[2]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，本村列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
