建城社区的居民委员会驻地设在建城圩，社区名由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
居民委员会的前身1952年组建，2001年起改称社区居民委员会，2005年选出第一届社区居民委员会，此后名称沿用。[1]
1952年起隶属郁南县第三区，1958年为建城管理区辖，1961年改属建城人民公社，1983年属建城区公所，1987年起属建城镇人民政府。[1]
1986年居委会驻地在建城圩大街，2005年迁往中山路旧戏院旁，2009年又迁到圩镇文昌路的文化广场文化楼。[2]
