万洞村是平台镇下辖的行政村，位于镇东面，与县城相连。[1]村名的来历：明代此地为瑶人聚居地，称「蛮垌」；清代后期改「蛮」为「万」，称「万垌」，后「垌」改作「洞」，建行政村时定名万洞。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

明代，岑姓从佛山迁入。村内现有谢、欧、陈、卢、苏、梁、甘等姓，以谢、陈、欧姓为多。[2]

建国初为第一区的万洞行政村；1953年划入黑河乡，此后1958年成为万洞生产大队。1983年设乡人民政府，1987年定为村委会，1989年划作管理区，1999年再设村委会。[2]

产业[edit]

农业以沙糖桔和玉桂为主，村集体收入主要来自沙糖桔基地经营和房屋出租。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年10月，万洞村列入2019年广东省卫生村名录。[2]2020年12月，万洞村获广东省爱卫会授予「2020年广东省卫生村」称号，2021年12月又获「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[2]
