五东村是天堂镇下辖的行政村，位于旧时新兴县第五区的东面，村名由此而来。2024年11月，它入选2024年广东省「美丽庭院」特色村名单。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明崇祯十一年（1638年），谭、李两姓祖先从南雄珠玑巷迁来定居，村中最早的聚落由此形成。1955年，此地划为天堂区的五东乡，1957年4月并入天堂乡。1958年11月设五东大队，隶属天堂公社；1983年11月改称五东乡；1999年2月改设五东村民委员会。[2]

省里授予五东村2023年度「卫生村」称号，时间为2024年3月。[1]

据天堂镇人民政府网2024年11月的报道，全村户籍为1084户4718人。[3]
