天堂镇在新兴县西南一带，东侧邻接河头镇和大江镇，西面与南面连着阳春市，北面与云安区相接，镇政府所在的圩镇是全镇的中心。[1][2]

镇名的来历是：当地地表缺水，村民筑塘蓄水多达千口，起初称“千塘”；塘水靠天雨补给，改称“天塘”；后取幸福美好之意，定名为“天堂”。[2][4]

镇内以紫米、丝苗米等特色农产品为主，以「稻花乡里·人文天堂」为文旅品牌，抢花炮在本镇尤为流行。[5][6]

历史沿革[edit]

1983年8月，天堂区得以重设；1985年，它改称天堂镇。在此之前，1955年新兴县第五区更名为天堂区，1957年撤区后改设天堂乡。1958年10月，天堂乡与河头乡的大部分地区合组天堂公社，到1961年9月公社拆分为天堂、内中、河头三个公社。[1][2]

民国年间，镇内出了李耀汉、翟汪两位广东省省长，那段时期外来商贾与富户时常聚集于此，镇中开有商行、烟庄、当铺与运馆。建国后圩镇扩大，贸易兴旺。[3]

2014年7月，天堂镇列为全国重点镇；2019年12月，获评「全国乡村治理示范乡镇」；2020年8月，以丝苗米入选广东省第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业镇名单；2021年1月，列入第二批「广东省旅游风情小镇」；2021年4月，进入农业农村部与财政部的农业产业强镇名录；2022年1月，被命名为2021年度「广东省卫生城镇」；2024年，入选「全国旅游名镇创新发展案例」。[2][5]

人口民族[edit]

2020年末，全镇常住人口有41957人。第七次全国人口普查结果公布后，博雅地名网载称全镇人口约4.2万人。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

镇境位于北回归线以南，气候为亚热带季风型。汕湛高速、三茂铁路和国道穿越全境，铁路线上设有天堂站。[4][5]

经济[edit]

蔬菜与花卉种植是镇内农业的两大特色产业。三角梅花卉、香蕉、柑橘、辣椒和梅菜等也是代表性产品，紫米与丝苗米还发展出“紫米+”等农文旅模式。[3][5]

文化[edit]

抢花炮又叫“烧大炮”，相传始于明末清初。每年农历正月十三至二月十八期间，各村陆续举行，活动包括舞狮、八音和炮会组织的游乡。[6]

《天堂抢花炮》已列入「新兴县首批非物质文化遗产名录」，并被认定为「云浮市第二批市级非物质文化遗产代表作」。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

新华网2026年的报道列出镇内的古迹，包括九统领广场、天字码头、区村古屋、联谊书院、泽罗坊古水井、圩镇骑楼街、天堂公园与古塔春晖；红色遗址有天堂镇红色图书馆和李务本堂。[5]

天堂小镇是国家3A级旅游景区，整合了镇内的历史人文、科普教学和餐饮曲艺等资源。黄京田村的十里梅廊，以及龙坪村与南顺村的十里花卉长廊，是镇内的花海景观。[5]

著名人物[edit]

李耀汉（1861年—1942年）出生于天堂镇朱所村，民国时期任广东省省长。[7]
