地名由来[edit]

此地处于镇子的中心地带，四面环山，地势凹如盆地，因此称为「洞」，里洞之名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年10月以后此地先属新兴县第四区。1955年改属公平区，称象田乡。1958年后归里洞公社，设象田大队。1983年仍属里洞区公所，称象田乡；1987年改称象田管理区，隶属里洞乡。1993年随里洞乡改镇，仍称象田管理区。1999年改为里洞社区居民委员会。[1]
