历史沿革[edit]
早先此地叫书台，因地形像一张书台得名，后来改称水台。[1] 明代属新兴县照会都，清末属新兴县第二区，1934年改称水台。[3]
1949年10月以后，此地归第二区管辖；1955年8月第二区改称稔村区。1957年设水台乡，1958年10月并入与稔村、东成两乡合组的东风公社。1959年1月东风公社更名稔村公社，同年6月水台公社从稔村公社划出。[3]
1983年撤社建区，设水台区，大队改为乡；1987年3月撤区后设水台乡；1993年2月水台乡改为水台镇。[3] 境内属革命老区。[1]
地理环境[edit]
境内为丘陵地貌，土壤是松散泥质红壤。矿泉水、温泉水、石英石和高岭土等资源蕴藏较多。[2]
全镇面积，博雅地名网载为约74.8平方千米，百度百科则载为84.73平方千米。[2][4]
人口民族[edit]
据第七次全国人口普查结果，水台镇人口为1.28万人。[1] 百度百科载2017年人口为13960人。[4]
经济[edit]
镇里以千亩规模的粉葛作为特色产业，并向深加工方向延伸，打造本土品牌。[9] 蒸酿粉葛入选县内的「新兴十二道风味」美食名录。[8]
2022年10月，水台镇被认定为「一村一品、一镇一业」专业镇，产业为畜禽养殖，认定机关为广东省农业农村厅。[1] 2026年6月，水台镇进入广东省第三批「百县千镇万村高质量发展工程」典型镇名单。[9]
名胜古迹[edit]
金水台温泉度假村占地680亩，2006年开业。其设计依国际五星级标准，分为温泉区、水上乐园和峡谷漂流三个部分。[5]
县政府网站另载，翔顺金水台温泉小镇为国家4A级旅游景区，在金水台原生态环境基础上发展养生养老、休闲旅游与温泉康养。[6] 悦天下生态旅游度假区与金水台同被称为镇内两个星级景区。[7][10]
