富美村在里湖镇区的西北方，地处榕江南岸，与镇区相接，辖有12个自然村。[1]
据百度百科，村民中的李氏一支在元末迁居此地，因水土肥美而得名富美。村内保存着富美公学的革命根据地旧址，即李氏祖祠。[2]
村民生计多靠商贸、种地，也有人在外经商或打工。[1]
2020年至2022年，富美村三度列入淘宝村名单。2023年11月，村子入选「广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村」，2024年3月被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]
