新梅村原称梅林新圩，村址在梅林新圩，故改称新梅。解放前后，梅林大街上的这一段商铺众多，商贸活跃。村中产青梅、油甘和橄榄。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初期，村曾在合作化时期联合组成农业合作社。1958年公社化时自成大队。1987年成立村委会，1989年改设管理区，1999年改为村民委员会。[1]
