梅林社区是梅林镇镇区的居民社区，名称取自此地的地形：据博雅地名网所载，明初这里属惠州府海丰县龙溪都管辖，原是一个村子，因地貌似倒地的梅花、林木茂密，故称梅林。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

梅林圩原是南阳山特区的主要集市。新中国成立后，不少机关单位和派出所迁入圩镇。1958年公社化时设居委会，共分五个小组；2002年起称梅林社区居委会。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

在2019年9月公布的名单中，梅林社区被列为2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区沿梅林河南岸呈条状分布，圩镇分新圩与老圩两部分。里坪公路与梅云公路在此连接广汕公路。[1]
