利坑村曾名李坑，是船埔镇下辖的行政村，村中自然村有利坑、思茅坪、老屋下、潭吊坑，共四处，全村1045人。[1]

村子处在山区，以毛竹、杉、松为主要林产，属革命老区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清初有李姓人家在此居住，村前有一条弯曲的山溪，最初称李坑。清中期杨姓迁入，李姓迁离，于是改为今名。[1]

新中国成立前原属惠来县第六区，1949年划入南阳山特区；随后先后隶属普宁县的区乡，1966年归船埔公社，1980年为黄沙公社的利坑大队，1984年改设利坑乡，1986年称利坑村，1999年为村委会。2003年黄沙乡撤销，村随之并入船埔镇。[2]

经济[edit]

耕地350亩，山地11700亩。主产毛竹、杉、松和其他阔叶树，毛竹种植已有数百年。村中有腌制厂两间，木材加工厂一家。[1]

文化[edit]

村内设中学、小学各一所，并有文化站、卫生所与水电站。[1]

2019年9月，该村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
