横溪村位于普宁市区东南约7.3千米处，村庄由数个自然村组成，村中有溪流横贯，村名由此而来。[1]

建村与村名[edit]

明万历年间，福建泉州一带的居民最先迁到此地定居，其后郑、宋等姓相继迁入。村中有溪流横穿村间，故称横溪。[1]

沿革[edit]

新中国成立后设横溪乡，1958年公社化时改称横溪大队；1983年归下架山区横溪乡，1986年改为下架山镇横溪村委会。1990年设横溪管理区办事处，1999年1月，经普宁市人民政府7号文通知改称横溪村委会，此名沿用至今。[2]

侨乡与交通[edit]

村子属重点侨乡和革命老区。下架山中心大道贯穿四家村，占汤公路经过新乡、郑家村和陈家村，连接广汕公路。[1]
