高美村是东港镇的行政村，由高美、云埔、下楼、后旗四个自然村组成，距县城36公里。村名原作沟尾，1948年后雅称高美。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

天启年间（1621～1627），翁姓人家最先在此定居，此后胡、黄、吴、郑、林诸姓陆续聚居于此。[2]

1973年东港设公社，村内形成高美大队，辖高美、云埔、下楼、后旗四村。1983年改为乡政府，1986年改为村委会，1992年设为管理区，1999年又改为村委会。[2]

地名由来[edit]

村子位于东港圩一条小溪的末端，溪名竹简沟，村因此原名沟尾。潮音中「沟」与「高」读音相同，1948年后改称高美，村委会也以此命名。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，村被确定为「2023年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」。[1]
