宫兜村是东港镇的行政村，位于镇区西北，距镇区约3公里，西南与陆丰市华侨管理区相接。村名取自村子三面环水、形如宫殿的地势。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明弘治十六年（1503），陈氏自福建莆田迁入定居，村中至今仍有称宫兜巷的巷道。早先村西北住着洪姓，村东是布姓，两姓之后迁离。[2]

1949年前后，村属葵潭区岭南乡。1953年改称宫兜乡，隶属惠来第四区；1958年归鳌江公社并改为宫兜大队，1959年划入葵潭农场大埔分场，1962年再归鳌江公社。1973年东港设公社，宫兜独立为宫兜大队。1983年改设宫兜乡政府，1986年改为宫兜村委会，1999年为村委会至今。[2]

地名由来[edit]

村子背靠丘陵，东、西、南三面为河流所环绕，地势蜿蜒，形如宫殿，故名宫兜。[1]

概况[edit]
