东港镇是广东省揭阳市惠来县下辖的镇，位于县境西部，距县城34公里。镇名取自镇区旧时的一处小港口，溪边辟有船坞码头，故称东港。清初此地已有圩集，又称东港圩。[1][2][3]

镇域以丘陵为主，北部接大南山系南段，东南为鳌江河下游平原，属半山区。农业以荔枝、稻谷、红薯、花生为主，据2024年县委巡察反馈，2023年农业产值约4.5亿元。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

镇区所在一带，建制几经变动。1953年起隶属惠来县第四区，此前的1949年归甲子区管辖。1958年与1962年两度属鳌江公社，中间的1959年又划入葵潭农场。1973年自鳌江公社划出，另设东港公社；1983年改为区，1986年改为镇。[2]

地理环境[edit]

地势由西北向东南倾斜，最高海拔350米。西部多低丘山地，东南靠近鳌江河的地带为小平原。镇境内有河流自西向东汇入鳌江，建有小型水库7宗，年降水量在1700至2000毫米之间。[1]

普惠高速公路南北向穿过镇区，全长7.2公里；深汕高速在镇境内长8.6公里。国道324线经过西岭村。[1]

人口[edit]

2020年末户籍总人口共42010人，其中35321人为农业户口，8049人为非农业户口。博雅地名网据第七次全国人口普查结果（2021年6月公布）记为2.63万人，两个数字的统计口径不同。[1][2]

经济[edit]

农作物以稻谷、红薯、花生为主，荔枝和冬瓜种植有一定规模，并出产蜂蜜。荔枝烤干和毛料加工是传统的农产品加工业。2020年的集体经济收入为150.9万元，全镇农村经济的总收入为37254万元。[1]

巡察反馈称，东港镇没有规模以上工业和服务业企业。[4]

圩市与公共服务[edit]

镇区东港村在民国初年已形成农村圩市。博雅地名网记载，1987年时镇内有市场1个，农历三、六、九日为圩期，县城方向有班车通行。[3]

幼儿园方面，镇中心设一所规范化中心幼儿园；小学类有完全小学八所、非完全小学五所；中学类含初级中学与九年一贯制学校各一所。医疗方面，镇有一所卫生院，并已建成急救中心大楼。[1]

文化[edit]

红四师百岭战斗旧址在百岭村。1927年12月，一部分广州起义部队退到花县，在当地重新编组，番号为中国工农革命军第四师，其后称红四师，全师有1200余人，师长为叶镛。[2]

清代至民国，长青村出过林乔梧、邓林梅、林家浚等人物，博雅地名网将其列为东港镇名人。[2]
