苗海村属革命老区村、纯农村，也是贫困村。村委会由铜炉、苗海、驿埔、花寨、赤岭五个自然村组成，村内有中国工农红军第四师攻城指挥部旧址，村北有仙井古岩。[1][2][3][4]

地名由来[edit]

村委会由铜炉村、苗海村、驿埔村、花寨村、赤岭村五个自然村合成。因人口最多的苗海村为村委会命名；因村中园地多，又寓苗裔兴盛之意，故名苗海。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明正德年间，村子创立。陈、林、沈、方等姓先后迁入，聚居于买园，村子又别称“买园”。[1]

1958年至1983年称达山大队，1983年至1986年改为达山乡政府，1987年至1989年改为达山村委会，1989年至1999年分为三个村级单位并改称苗海管理区，1999年方才定为苗海村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

1994年，苗海在全镇最早开办工业园，园区占地12亩，内设一幢厂房（建筑面积4300平方米）和一幢宿舍楼（900平方米）。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

中国工农红军第四师攻城指挥部旧址在苗海村老村的沈氏顺公祠内，1928年3月，红四师以该祠为据点设立攻城指挥部。旧址于1985年2月列为县级文物保护单位，徐向前元帅题写的碑刻现存苗海小学内。[3]

仙井古岩在苗海村北面的山上，寺内天然石井终年泉水清冽，明代曾有学者在此讲学。该寺于1983年被列为县重点文物保护单位。[4]

荣誉[edit]

2023年4月，苗海村在2022年度的乡村治理示范村创建名单之内。[1]

2023年11月，苗海村被纳入第八批广东省古村落的名录。[3]

2024年1月，苗海村被评为2023年度「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」。[1]

2026年1月，苗海村获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
