赤洲村在东陇镇的东南角，南边紧挨神泉港，揭神公路从村中穿过。村名来自从前海边的一片赤色沙洲，后来沙洲与陆地连成一片。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村地古时是海边的赤色沙洲，经过长久的陆地变迁，与陆地连成一片，因而取名“赤洲”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
南宋期间（1131～1279年），刘氏从福建迁来创村定居，后又有吴等姓迁入，形成多姓聚居的村落。[1]
在设立惠来县之前，这里归潮阳县的隆井都管辖，称赤洲楼。它曾是两地水陆运输的中转地，并留下了货栈与码头的遗迹。[1]
1949年后一度改名“乐洲”。1973年村里设为赤洲大队；1983年设赤洲乡政府，随后改成管区办事处；直到1999年才定名赤洲村委会。[1]
经济[edit]
1985年，村里组建了赤洲建筑工程队，业务范围延伸到广州、深圳、珠海与韶关等地。[1]
