新陂村属前詹镇辖下，离惠城约18公里，距镇政府约10公里，是一个纯农业村，以农业生产为主要经济来源。[1]

创村时，村北溪上筑有一座水陂，村庄因此得名「新陂」。[1]

明万历年间（1573～1619年），惠城北门一带的林氏迁来落户。解放初归神泉公社管辖，此后1983年独立成立新陂乡；1987至1999年为新陂管区，1999年改为新陂村委会。[1]

2019年9月，新陂村被列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
