西埔村位于前詹镇西北面，离镇址约4公里，是一个纯农村庄，种植以水稻、甘薯和花生为主。[1]

村子坐落在铭湖西侧一片广阔的山埔上，故名「西埔」。[1]

宋理宗年间（1236～1250年），林氏从惠城分支来此创村。1949年属神泉区，称西埔乡；1951年改属靖海区，1954年属周田区；1958年设西埔大队，1961年归前詹公社；1983年设西埔乡政府，1986年改为西埔管理区，1999年改为西埔村委会。[1]
