后湖村位于靖海镇东北部，是半渔半农的村庄。村名来自村前的一口大池与村后的沙丘，古时又称后湖寮。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

建村时，村前有一口大池，村后是沙丘，沙丘之后是一片低洼地，土名“深湖”。村子建在深湖之前，因而称后湖。[1]

明洪武十六年（1393年），有人从外地来此搭寮居住。新中国成立后，此地与周边几个自然村合为联管区。文化大革命期间，部分村落分出，其余村子合为一个大队，大队部设在后湖村。[2]

1983年以后，又有几个村陆续分出，设后湖乡政府；1989年改为后湖管区，1999年改设后湖村委会。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网记载，全村总户数299户，总人口1542人，统计年份未注。区域面积4280亩，耕地432亩，林地2850亩。[1]

生计上靠浅海作业，并种水稻和杂粮；人均纯收入为2530元。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2025年3月，后湖村被命名为「第七届全国文明村镇」。2024年4月，后湖村入选「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单。2023年11月，后湖村入选「广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村」。[1]

2022年8月，后湖村被确定为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。2020年8月，后湖村收入「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单，主产胡萝卜。2019年9月，后湖村被收入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
