月山村位于靖海镇西部，村名与村左侧山上的两块巨石有关：一块形似鞋，一块形似袜。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

村左侧的山上有两块巨石，一块像鞋，一块像袜，最初称鞋袜山。1956年改称月山，原因是潮州话里“袜”与“月”读音相同。[1]

明弘治以前，此地已有村落。清康熙四十二年（1703年），朱姓一支定居下来，之后陈、李等姓也迁入。新中国成立初年设乡与村，此后在大队、乡政府、管理区之间变动，1999年才改设村委会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网记载，全村242户，总人口1278人，统计年份未注。区域面积2580亩，耕地352亩，林地800亩。[1]

产业以浅海作业及种植蔬菜、杂粮为主。2009年，村民人均纯收入为2850元。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会评定月山村为「2021年广东省卫生村」。2009年，村子获县文明村、平安村称号。[1]
