祭坑村位于华湖镇东部，葵和公路与深汕高速公路在村东交叉，两路分别从村前和村后穿过，距县城约10公里。村名取自村落位于两山之间的坑底。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明代，黄氏先祖从周田迁来，在此搭寮榨油，村名原为“黄油园”，又称“油黄园”。明弘治年间，黄氏女嫁与郑氏，郑氏遂同住村中。[1]

隆庆元年（1567年），郑氏在村中立郑厝寨。明万历年间（1616年），黄油园失火被烧，黄氏众人迁入郑厝寨，形成郑、黄、庄、肖四姓同住的局面。[1]

人口与耕地[edit]

博雅地名网记全村32户，共1996人。耕地385亩，内有水田290亩，另有旱园15亩，山地达3300亩。[1][2]

村中以农业为主，集体经济薄弱。主产荔枝，品种多样。[2]
