华宅村位于华湖镇东北方向，在雷岭河支流向东上行约7公里处，鸡冠山西麓，葵和公路从村北穿过。村中原名下宅，新中国成立后改雅称华宅。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖年间，有人迁来此地，创立下宅乡。此地三面环山，住宅建在低洼处，故称“下宅”。[1][2]

村子在1951年经历土改；1983年又单独设了乡政府，直到1999年才改为村委会，此后一直沿用。[3]

村落与建设[edit]

华宅村有老村和新村两处，两村隔溪相望。老村呈凸字形，房屋多为土木结构；新村建于1988年，呈长方形，多为钢筋混凝土楼房。2008年，村道接通了两村，并连接葵和公路。[1][2][3]

人口与耕地[edit]

博雅地名网记全村总人口1800人，山地3600亩，旱园水田480亩。[1][2]

农田水利[edit]

1963年，村里建成了从岭美水库引水的工程，解决了农田灌溉的问题。[3]

村中主产水稻、蔬菜和荔枝，约三成劳动力外出务工。[3]

荣誉[edit]

爱卫会在2023年5月认定华宅村为「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]
