东郊社区位于惠来县惠城镇城区东面，北面靠山，深汕高速公路穿境而过。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区始于明嘉靖年间（1522－1566），起初分为三处居民点，分别称「开邑古庙」「翁厝巷」「北爷宫」。因多姓氏聚居，旧时称“东郊三社”。[2]

1949年8月起至1951年底，隶属惠来县第一区的东山乡，村名为东郊村。1962年至1972年，村属惠城公社东山大队。1973年起称东郊大队，1983年至1987年称东郊乡，1987年至2002年称东郊管区，2002年改设东郊社区居委会，沿用至今。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年8月，东郊社区被授予「2022年惠来县首批无毒村（社区）」称号。[1]
