村民多从事农业生产，收入较单一，村集体经济薄弱[2]。村里种有成片的无公害柑桔，并出产三棱橄榄[2]。

2009年，工农业总产值合计3365万元，村民年均收入4675元，集体收入仅2.1万元[2]。

建设与荣誉[edit]

2020年8月，广东省农业农村厅发布的首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单中有马路村，主产品为青榄[1]。

2020年，马路村列入灰寨镇农房管控和风貌提升示范带的范围，同时是生态宜居美丽示范村的建设对象之一[3]。
