上庄村是潮安区江东镇下辖的行政村，位于江东洲渚中部西侧，北接三吴村，东连圆山四个自然村，南与中庄、红砂两村相邻。村民为庄姓，是独树庄氏的发祥地，在新中国成立后因方位命名为上庄。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，南宋末年，庄氏先祖弥渊公率众投奔丞相文天祥，后因战事失利，潜居潮州城，终于在景炎三年（1278年）进驻今上庄村一带，建宅定居，并以“独树”为村名，表达孤身报国的寄托。[2]

其后庄氏人口繁衍，六世祖养善公率家眷迁到原居地以南三里处，成立独树下庄村；八世祖月潮公迁至原居地一里外，成立独树中庄村。此后二百余年，庄氏族人在江东先后形成三个村落。民国以前三处均称独树庄，新中国成立后为便于行政区划，改按方位称上庄、中庄、下庄。[2]

1977年，以主村之名设上庄大队；1999年改为上庄村民委员会，此名沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域约2.6平方公里，耕地965亩，多为沙质土。村地中部高，东西两侧低，四周环水。[2]

人口民族[edit]

据博雅地名网，2005年村中人口3031人。庄氏后裔分散各地，饶平、潮州市区与澄海都有其分支，海外的分支则散见于东南亚、北美及台湾等地。[2]

经济[edit]

1957年，江东首个高级农业合作社设在上庄。[2]

文化[edit]

民国时期，村北的“书斋顶”曾设乡公所。1953年至1985年间，村中垂秩公祠多数时候是江东的机关驻地。[2]

据博雅地名网，村中有人毕业于黄埔军校，其中庄升彦为第八期学员，后在广州绥靖公署所属部队任参谋长。[2]

独树庄氏宗祠位于上庄村，建于清代，2016年列为潮州市文物。[3]

2023年5月，村子获授「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
