砚前村属庵埠镇，位于镇北部，在潮汕公路与焦山公路交叉点东侧，离镇政府约1.7千米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明末已有人聚居，先是黄、高两姓定居于此，清康熙年间又有陈、梁两家迁来。村南的水田与池塘形状似一方砚台，村名由此而来，又称园前。[1]

1956年该地归入下路大队，1976年从中分出，成立砚前大队；1999年改设砚前村民委员会。[3]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，村子列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，村庄三次上榜淘宝村名单。[2]
