田东村是登塘镇下辖的行政村，由围村和田东两个自然村组成，曾是旧田东乡的乡政府所在地。村子东接横洋村，南面与黄潭村相对。[1][2]

明天启年间（1621年），沈氏在此建乡，后有陈姓迁来定居。村落位于田园的东面，村名由此而来。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年公社化期间，本村与黄潭合编为「田东大队」；1972年，本队仍沿用原名；1999年，村子改设田东村民委员会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

2006年12月，全村112户，共560人。耕地136亩，主种水稻、甘薯和花生；山地6503亩，多种杉、松、青梅和橄榄等林果。[1][2]

当地勘探显示，村域内有锡、铅、锌等多种矿产资源。[2]

文化[edit]

1985年以来，村里与农户集资引入自来水，改善了用水困难和卫生状况。村内现有一所小学，设5个教学班。[2]
