平林村是登塘镇下辖的行政村，位于镇北部山区，西北距丰顺县溪美村约2公里。[1][2]
村子创于清乾隆三十九年（1774年）。村址位于四面环山的谷地，林木繁茂，故名平林。全村均姓罗，祖先迁自梅县蕉岭，村民属客家人；旧时与横田、尧田两村同属山谷，合称「顶三乡」。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年公社化期间，平林与尧田合为一个大队；1974年以村名设平林大队；1999年改为平林村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
古时村民以伐薪烧炭为生。今天以农林业和采矿为主，种水稻、甘薯，山地种茶、木薯以及松、杉、竹；地下有钨、锡、铅等矿藏。耕地183亩。[2]
文化[edit]
1985年，村内小学在学学生仅43人，入学率不高；因交通不便，物资要靠人工挑运。[2]
2020年12月，平林村获「2020年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
