横溪村位于古巷镇政府驻地西北约3.3千米，属广东省潮州市潮安区古巷镇，为城乡结合区的村子[1][2]。村名取自村前鹰溪山脚下一条自北向南横流的小溪[1][2]。

地名与源流[edit]

村前的鹰溪山下，有一条小溪由北向南横穿村前，村因此得名[1]。明末，吕氏夫妇由浙江金华县迁来定居，是最早的一批居民。此后刘、章、蔡、郑、张、林、阮等姓陆续迁入，当地有“未有横溪乡，先有吕、刘、章”的说法[2]。现在的居民以刘、章、张、吴等姓为主[2]。

人口与产业[edit]

全村耕地1776亩，以水稻为主；水果有番石榴、洋葡萄、荔枝、菠萝、生柑等，并产塘鱼。集体与个体企业共25家，主要从事凉果加工与制砖[2]。

荣誉[edit]

2020年9月、2021年10月与2022年10月，该村三次被列入淘宝村名单[1]。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予该村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958年，公社化期间此地成立大队，以村名为号，称「横溪大队」。1999年改为横溪村民委员会，此名沿用至今[1]。
