永宁社区居委会位于小榄镇西北部，东面与新市社区相连，南面与九洲基社区、埒西一社区接壤，西面隔河与古镇镇相望，北面与西区、竹源社区相邻。社区面积10平方公里，地势平坦。西北部有一座小山丘，名为飞驼岭，俗称大榄山。中山城区在社区南面约27公里处，广州市中心城区在北面约63公里处。[1]

社区名称源于居委会设在永宁一带。2020年12月，社区上榜「2020年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2021年12月，又被认定为「2021年度中山市绿色社区」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1923年此地称永宁乡，其后乡的划分分分合合：1932年拆为四乡，1935年再拆为七乡，1946年复并为一乡。1957年西区并入，次年又行分开。[1]

社区的村委会设立于1986年，2004年底改设为永宁社区居委会。[1]
