沿革[edit]
清乾隆二十四年（1759年）始建村落，因在横档山之南，初名镇南，后因村落向东、南扩展，改称横档。[1]
村在1958年一度称黄圃耕作区的横档生产营，1961年改为大队。1951年先设横档乡，1957年改称横档村；1984年又改设乡，1986年复称横档村委会。[1]
经济与风俗[edit]
香蕉曾是村里农业的支柱，后因香蕉黄叶病等问题衰退。2009年起，村农业公司引进花木种植和水产养殖。据博雅地名网，村中水产养殖基地3000亩，花木基地约1700亩。[2]
横档风鳝为本地特产：风鳝即鳗鱼的一种，每年秋冬季节游到咸淡水交界处觅食，横档村一带的水域是捕捉的好地方。[1]
据博雅地名网，2013年村地区生产总值22085万元，村民人均年收入12090元。[2]
文化[edit]
村是中山市粤剧和醒狮文化之乡。村内留有天后庙；镇南级义烈祠的碑记与碑刻也保存至今，皆为历史古迹。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2020年8月，村以香蕉入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。2026年1月，村获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
