在五桂山街道的东南一侧，控虾村属于桂南村的石井联队村小组，其南面是担水坑村，西北与石井村相接。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子朝向北面，背后靠着石井山；民居沿一条线状排开，小河在村边绕行。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

抗日战争时期，日军侵入控虾村，村中民房遭到严重破坏。村民曾掩护山区游击队的干部和战士，为抗战作出贡献。1957年，村子被评为「广东省革命老区村庄」。[1]

经济[edit]

近来大部分村民已搬进新楼；八十年代，村民集资把村内道路铺成水泥路。村民的生活依靠退休金和医保，村中也有农家乐与小农场，提供烧烤和水果采摘服务。[1]

据百度百科，未来村子将纳入串联桂南马溪、旗溪、田心旧村、控虾与桂南果场的乡村旅游路线。[1]
