石榴坑村又名走马墩村，归长命水行政村管辖，位于街道北部城桂公路的两侧，世居者为汉族客家人。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1691年（清康熙三十年）已有村落，廖姓族人迁居后起名走马墩。1821年（清道光元年），村子因村西的一株石榴树改称现名。[1]
抗日时期，村子曾是五桂山游击队的驻地。1957年，村子获评广东省革命老区村庄。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村子东面挨着长命水工业园区，西面连接东区的新安村。周围的山包括天葬坟山、狮头山与大尖山，村内有石榴坑河与翠丽湖。[1]
人口民族[edit]
2015年户籍人口512人，村民为汉族客家人，通用客家方言。[1]
经济[edit]
过去村民多种水稻；1992年起，一部分土地改作工商业用途，如今靠厂房出租和集体分红维持。2015年，集体总收入为35.4万元。[1]
