东区街道是广东省中山市下辖的街道，位于中山市城区东部，中山市人民政府驻地也在辖区之内，因此常被简称为「东区」。^[1]^[2]

街道的总面积为71.4平方千米，2025年2月时辖有11个社区。街道的人口、经济和名胜古迹等情况见下文。^[1]^[3]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋至清末，这一带属香山县，先后隶属良字都与得能都。^[1]^[2]

民国时期，此地划归中山县第一、第四两区管辖。^[3]

1988年中山县改设地级市，原环城区、长江区和郊区的部分地段随之划出，东区办事处由此设立，隶属中山市人民政府。东区因位于城区东部而得名。^[1]^[3]

2001年至2005年间，各村委会与居委会陆续合并或改制为社区；2021年7月，长江三溪社区内的远洋城片区析出，设立远洋社区，街道由此形成现有的11个社区。^[4]^[5]^[12]

2020年11月，街道在水利部公布的一批名单中获列入，名单名称为「第三批节水型社会建设达标县（区）」。^[1]^[3]

2024年，街道地区生产总值为357.07亿元，同比增长3.8%。^[1]

街道近年由工业转向服务业，信息软件、现代金融等产业较为突出。据博雅地名网，辖区有重点楼宇14栋，汇丰银行一类的世界500强企业在此落户。^[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

孙文纪念公园位于兴中道与城桂路的交接处，占地26.6公顷。公园于1994年3月动工，分两期建成，1996年11月对外开放。^[9]

紫马岭公园占地88.5公顷，1993年10月1日建成对外开放。据百度百科，它在广东省内的郊野公园中规模最大，也常用来举办大型名花展览。^[8]

陈天觉夫妇墓位于库充一带的金钟山，为宋代墓葬，修建年代为南宋淳熙十年（1183年）。此后曾在清乾隆时期、民国十三年（1924年）及1990年经过修缮。1990年12月，该墓被公布为中山市文物保护单位。^[6]^[7]

墓主陈天觉在1152年（绍兴二十二年）建议设立香山县，获准后主持修建县城，香山县的设立由此开始。^[7]

著名人物[edit]

杨子毅（1878年至1953年）是起湾村人，曾任中山县县长，并任参政员。^[10]

欧汝钧字赞洪，1892年生，土瓜岭村人，民国时期任军队师长，抗战时期有功。^[3]^[11]
