东向村在中堂墟西侧，离莞城约11千米，北接斗朗社区，南面隔江与望牛墩镇相对。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
元成宗大德年间（约1297年），何四胡自南雄迁到涌尾，定居并立祠。洪武年间（约1368年）时，明将钟泷泗在中堂巡检署任职，他的部属多在此转业定居，村名取为大东向。新中国成立后，村与新田自然村合并，改称东向村。[1]
此后的建制依次为东斗乡（1953年）、东向大队（1958年）、东向乡（1983年）、东向管理区（1987年），直到1999年才成为东向村委会。[1]
人口与村落[edit]
2002年的数据显示，外来人口1000多人，户籍人口3066人，全村总面积2.39平方千米。村辖大东向与二村（又称小东向）两个自然村，共9个村民小组。[1]
