中堂村位于中堂镇中部，大致即旧中堂墟的大部分，自宋朝以来是中堂地区历届政府的驻地。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村中居民多在南宋时期由南雄迁来，同姓聚居，形成袁屋、刘屋、吕屋、李屋四个坊。建国后按职业划分：从事农业的人口归中堂村管辖，非农业人口则归入中堂居民委员会。[1]
郭洲原称过洲，与旧镇府隔一条河相望。土改期间至1961年，它归蕉利村管辖，1962年并入中堂村。[1]
其间依次为中东乡（1953年）、中堂大队（1958年）、中堂乡（1983年）、中堂管理区（1987年），1999年才设村委会。[1]
人口与荣誉[edit]
2006年，全村面积约1.05平方千米，辖刘屋、袁屋、新街、郭洲4个村民小组。外来人口1600多人，户籍人口1902人。[1]
2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，中堂村先后上榜淘宝村名单。[1]
