历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，清朝时此处立村，原有三个村落，后合称上合村（乡）。[2]
1957年此地改称上合乡并列入望牛墩大乡，次年划入中堂公社；1961年成为上合大队，1983年复设乡建制，1987年为管理区，1999年起称村委会。[2]
革命历史[edit]
1937年，这一带成立过东莞县临时工作委员会，1938年秋设立地下党组织，1940年则有水乡一带的武装小队组建。望角村是当年东江纵队的落脚点，1992年被市里批准为望角革命老区。[1]
1945年4月11日，望角之仗打响，东江纵队的一支中队在此对刘发如部队作战，望角村的两名民兵在战斗中牺牲。[1] 1967年4月，望牛墩人民公社革命委员会在望角建成望角革命烈士纪念碑。[5]
地理与交通[edit]
镇中路在村内交汇，东往可直达107国道，西面连着广深高速公路。龙泉路与东兴路西段在此相接，前往镇政府与镇中心都很便利。[1][4]
村内的望英大道把望角、吉基、英涌三个自然村连在一起。2001年，东兴工业园和北环路建设占用土地，其中东兴工业园用地132.73亩，北环路用地18.33亩，耕地因此减少。[1]
人口[edit]
据镇政府网站所载村情资料（2020年发布），全村总人口2868人，共727户，分英涌、吉基、上坊、中下坊四个片区，设14个村民小组。[1][3]
