历史沿革[edit]
涌口于元初立村，因位于濂泉水汇入河涌的出口而得名，村民以王姓为多，其次为黄、陈、张、袁、何等姓。[1]
1949年属东莞县第六区，称涌口乡；1958年与双岗合称「双涌营」，同年成立厚街人民公社；1960年改为涌口大队；1983年又称涌口乡。1987年厚街撤区建镇后，改称涌口管理区；1999年改为涌口村，下辖七个村民小组；2011年1月改为社区，取消小组建制。[1]
经济与规划[edit]
改革开放前，涌口以农业为主，水草、水稻、花生、柑橘、甘蔗、香蕉等都有种植，并盛产水草，有草织工艺，也办过烟花爆竹厂。1986年，涌口引进了第一家港资企业。1990年起实行「一河两岸」「一村一园」的规划，河北岸以工业区为主，河南岸以商住区为主。[1]
文化[edit]
社区有海月公园，自2006年起每年在此举办端午龙舟文化节，节间有醒狮、粤曲与龙舟竞渡等活动。2002年建成的海月剧场可同时容纳近三千人。[1]
