新湾社区位于虎门镇，原为新湾镇所在地。1986年，东莞市设立新湾镇；1998年新湾镇撤销，所属管理区与新湾居委会并入虎门镇。[1]

博雅地名网称，社区面积约1平方千米，设有11个居民小组。户籍人口为10860人，还有约5000名外来人口。[2]

建置变迁[edit]

1983年，虎门与新湾两个人民公社分别改设区公所。1986年11月8日，新湾区被撤销，随即设立了新湾镇。[1]

1998年7月8日，新湾镇又被撤销，它的10个管理区和新湾居委会并入虎门镇。自此以后，虎门镇始终隶属东莞市。[1]
