龙背岭村是塘厦镇龙背岭社区下辖的村落，距镇政府约5千米。村中居民是客家人，说的是东莞塘厦话所属的客家方言。村落始建于清乾隆二十二年（1757年），其名称来自村子背靠观音山、形状像龙背的地势[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
叶氏、张氏两姓先后迁入：叶氏在清光绪二十五年（1899年）前后定居，张氏则在乾隆年间已来此。此前村子曾被称作「黎背岭」[1]。
民居与文物[edit]
村中现存200余座传统客家民居，巷道为七横六纵的格局。叶氏宗祠、叶三贵碉楼等属于市级不可移动文物[1]。该村先后被评为广东省古村落和中国传统村落。2016年，它进入中央财政扶持的传统村落名单，并拿到300万元专项资金，用于整体保护[1]。
生产与习俗[edit]
传统上以种水稻和水果为主，龙眼、荔枝是特色农产品。村集体的收入来自厂房出租。村落传承客家山歌与舞麒麟等非物质文化遗产[1]。
