沙步村位于大朗镇东部，总面积3.1平方千米；东、北两面与常平镇的桥沥村、还珠沥村为邻，南侧是石厦村与杨涌村，西侧隔河望见水口村[1][2]。蚬壳海河与大陂海河两条寒溪河支流穿村而过，在沙步汇合后流向常平镇[1]。政府网概况所载，截至2026年4月，全村有920户，户籍2663人，新莞人约一万二千[1]。博雅地名网载为2024年4月的数字：879户，户籍2623人，新莞人6800人[2]。
