坝头社区位于东莞市万江街道东部，东接南城街道，西接曲海社区，北靠莞城街道博厦一带。社区由上坝、下坝两个居民小组组成，名字来自旧时的一处码头。[1]

地名由来[edit]

博雅地名网称，清咸丰五年（1855年），江西饶州詹姓的后人来此定居。因为要防洪水，他们在水边筑堤建码头，起名詹屋码头。「码」与「坝」读音相近，后来渐渐写成坝头。[1]

行政沿革[edit]

此地在新中国成立前后归属坝螺乡，之后陆续改属胜利乡、坝头乡、胜利营，1961年改称坝头大队。1983年设管理区，1999年改为村委会，2005年定名坝头社区居委会。[1]

名胜[edit]

下坝坊位于社区内的下坝村，是广东省历史文化名村，占地约1050亩，保留有詹氏宗祠等建筑。[2][3]

荣誉[edit]

2023年4月，社区进入2022年度广东省乡村治理示范村创建单位名单。[1]
