南城街道是广东省东莞市下辖的街道，位于市域中部偏西南，处在城市中心区之南，东莞市人民政府和市行政中心设于辖内。辖区面积56.6平方千米，下辖18个社区，常住人口约41.92万。[1][3]

街道东接东城街道，南与厚街镇、大岭山镇毗邻，西隔河与万江街道相望，北与莞城街道相连。2025年地区生产总值866.61亿元，同比增长3.6%。[3][7]

街道提出的发展方向包括做强现代产业体系、提升城市功能品质、推动城乡协调发展，以及改善公共服务供给。[5]

辖内蚝岗贝丘遗址、苏氏宗祠、度香亭等古迹列为各级文物保护单位，水濂山森林公园是东莞市的大型森林公园之一。[3][9][10][11]

历史沿革[edit]

南城一带在元明两代属东莞县恩德乡第十都，清乾隆十九年（1754年）起属缺口司。民国二十三年（1934年）辖地属东莞县第一区；1949年东莞解放后，辖地分属东莞县第二区，1953年又分属第一区和第十二区，1955年第一区改称附城区，第十二区改称厚街区。[8]

1957年3月至12月，东莞县撤销区级机构、改设大乡，篁村大乡成立，这是南城作为县以下行政区划的开端。1958年9月改设人民公社，辖地归附城人民公社；1961年6月篁村公社析出，此后几经分合。1983年10月篁村公社改为篁村区公所，1986年2月与莞城区街道合并，1987年10月拆分，其中篁村区街道管辖原篁村区公所的地域。南城这一名称到2001年10月才启用，此前这里叫篁村区街道。[2][8]

市政府机关在2004年6月搬到南城办公，自此南城便是全市的行政中心。[1]

街道所列荣誉中，1995年以来获「东莞市卫生镇」称号，2000年获「广东省体育先进镇」，2004年获「广东省卫生镇」，2006年获「全国文物工作先进镇」，2015年获「全国文明单位」等。[6]

地理环境[edit]

辖区南北纵长约12千米，东西横宽约6千米，地势北低南高。东南部为丘陵，海拔在130至150米之间；西北部是东江南支流冲积形成的平原，河网密布。[4]

南城位于北回归线以南，属亚热带季风气候，全年平均气温在21℃至22.2℃之间，夏季长而无冬。[2]

人口民族[edit]

常住人口约41.92万，据街道网站，外来人口达28.77万。[3] 据百度百科，截至2024年户籍人口为14.38万。[1]

辖内大部分居民说粤方言，西北部平原及部分丘陵地区说东莞话，蛤地、水濂等社区通行客家话。[1]

2025年，规模以上工业增加值约为50.12亿元（增幅8.5%），固定资产投资额为93.61亿元（减幅35.7%），社会消费品零售额为416.01亿元，比上年微降0.3%。[3]

辖区内各类市场主体约12.32万户，其中企业7.33万户，设有多个商圈；持牌金融机构共142家，国家高新技术企业380多家。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

蚝岗贝丘遗址位于蚝岗村大园坊，属新石器时代遗址，遗址内有墓葬、房址、灰坑等遗迹，据考古断代，其年代距今约五千年，在广东史前文化序列中属于新石器时代较早阶段。该遗址被列为第七批全国重点文物保护单位。[9]

蚝岗苏氏于明代嘉靖年间在今胜和社区蚝岗村建起宗祠，即1541年动工，此后作为族中祭祀之所。祠堂占地约1800平方米，建筑面积851平方米，现为省级文物保护单位。[10]

水濂山森林公园在水濂社区境内，占地约六千亩，最高峰海拔379.9米。它是东莞市六大森林公园中的一座，对公众免费开放。[11]
