余屋社区位于东城街道的东北部，面积约1.8平方千米，北侧临莞龙路，南侧是寒溪河。社区内只有一条自然村，即余屋村。[1][2]

社区还有余氏宗祠和进士牌坊这些历史建筑。居民中，户籍的有1728人，未落户的约6000人。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，宋朝立村，起初叫侯山。1949年后归第五区榴花乡，1953年属附城公社，1963年设余屋大队。1984年为余屋乡，1987年为管理区，1998年改为余屋村委会，2005年村改居，称余屋社区居委会。[1]

社区下设3个居民小组。厂房面积21万平方米，其中经联社厂房19.3万平方米，居委会厂房2.1万平方米。社区股东1544人，人均年福利分红11000元。[2]

历史建筑[edit]

余屋牌坊为明万历四十一年（1613年）赐建，1989年东莞市政府把它列为文物保护单位。[4] 博雅地名网的社区概况称牌坊为省文物保护单位、余氏宗祠为市文物保护单位；百度百科则载余氏宗祠于2019年列为广东省文物保护单位。两说级别不同，此处照实记录。[2][3]
