设立村委会时，元村与龙潭两地村民合并，各取一字组成现名。[1]

1999年起称元潭村村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，元潭村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]

元村人居环境整治[edit]

2024年，镇里公开协议交易元村人居环境整治提升项目，内容包括拆除旧房和围墙、种植台湾草，修建双车道、石板路和鹅卵石人行道等，预算95万元。[2]

典型村培育[edit]

2025年，元潭被列为县级典型村培育对象。同年，城北、元潭两村完成内外立面提升共46栋。[3]

2026年上半年，镇里聚焦元潭、高堆两村的省级典型村培育目标，两村的农房外立面改造有33栋，污水管线约4830米已敷设，「三线」整治1400米。[4]
