高道村是西牛镇下辖的行政村，共40个村民小组，位于小北江两岸，村内设有高道街市场，逢农历二、七为集日。村内有石灰石、火山灰和石英石等非金属矿产。[1]

地名由来[edit]

高道地处石灰铺、连江口、大洞、九龙之间的交通要道，客家话里“交”与“高”读音相近，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清嘉庆十八年（1813年），高道属怀义都辖七图，1836年设高道乡。民国时期高道乡曾分属不同的区，1956年归西牛区，1958年设高道大队。1983年复为高道乡政府，1986年改称村委会，1990年改设高道管理区，1998年10月7日又定为高道村委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

小北江由北向南流经村境，把村子分成两岸，一岸为吉水片，另一岸为二联片和塘头片。河水上游与西牛航道枢纽电站相接，下游经水边、连江口一带流去。一条水泥路通到九龙、水边与大洞，另一条经石灰铺通往连江口镇所辖的小舍。[2]

人口民族[edit]

村下辖40个村民小组，住户1060户，人口4511人。辖区面积约32平方公里，耕地2900多亩。2008年，全村人均纯收入为4200元。[2]

经济[edit]

村内有石场2个、砖厂1个、选矿场1个和火山灰场2个，另有一处旧水泥厂。麻竹资源充足，有纸浆厂3个、麻竹叶收购点2个和麻竹笋初加工厂5个。另有造船厂一处、水电站一座，货运码头与渡轮码头各一个。[2]

文化[edit]

村内有吉水小学和高道小学两所，在校小学生300多人，教师10多人，村级卫生站5个。[2]

2019年9月，高道村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2019年12月，高道村进入「第二批国家森林乡村」名单，该名单由国家林业和草原局公布。2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予山八村、山九村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
