福堂镇属广东省清远市连山壮族瑶族自治县管辖，位于县境中南部，辖荣丽、新联、良善、太平、读楼、新溪、永丰、梅洞八个行政村。[1][2] 镇名来自民国初年的一次改称：乡绅嫌旧名中的「宿」字欠雅，希望此地成为「福地天堂」，遂改作福堂。[1][13] 镇内有莫朝玉墓与杨愈将故居两处文物，前者为县级文物保护单位，后者已列入广东省文物保护单位。[6][10][19]

历史沿革[edit]

1939年此地设立福善乡，1951年改名福堂乡。[3] 1958年改为人民公社，1983年撤社设区，1986年撤区设镇。[3] 博雅地名网另有一份沿革记载：解放后最初此地属第三区，1955年才称福堂区；1958年组建红十月人民公社，连阳大县并入后更名福堂公社。[5]

1953年9月，连山办事处在永和设立，代行原连山县永和、福堂、小三江三区的行政事务。[18] 1961年，原属福堂公社的若干瑶区生产大队随连南瑶族自治县划出，其中包括福堂良洞等地的耕地，合计约2000亩。[17]

2003年，永丰镇并入本镇。[3] 2004年村级建制又作调整：湴田、良洞两村委会并入良善村委会，新生、肖溪两村委会合为新溪村委会，永丰村委会同年设立。[4][12]

地理环境[edit]

福堂镇位于连山县中南部。镇域东面与连南瑶族自治县的香坪镇相接，南面与小三江、上帅两镇毗邻，西面与广西贺州市八步区的南乡、大宁两镇相连，北面与吉田镇接壤。[1] 永丰河流经镇境。[3] 镇域面积两处记载相差较大，百度百科作189.37平方千米，博雅地名网作约138.2平方千米，未能核实。[1][3]

人口与民族[edit]

百度百科载2019年末户籍人口21439人。[1] 博雅地名网引第七次全国人口普查结果，2021年全镇为1.46万人，在连山县各街道乡镇中列第三位。[3] 维基百科所列总人口为14903人，未注明统计年份。[2] 各村资料多记少数民族占比很高，永丰村达95%。[12]

据百度百科，2017年农林牧渔业产值为22351.33万元，较上年上升7.6%；固定资产投资额为43541.7万元，上升6.4%；工业产值为5225.60万元，增5.5%；农民人均纯收入达13390元，涨幅18%。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

莫朝玉墓位于班瓦村鳌鱼岭南，墓向南，以灰沙夯筑，面积约20平方米。墓碑于明隆庆二年（1568年）竖立，1827年（清道光七年）重修。[6][7] 墓主莫朝玉字翠峰，1567年（嘉靖四十年）获封武略将军，其职权涵盖连、阳、怀、英、贺、清等七地，是明代连山壮族地区颇有声望的土司。[6][7] 该墓列入第一批县级文物保护单位，1990年由县人民政府公布。[6][8][19]

新溪村委会五村的杨愈将故居建于1845年（清道光二十五年），坐东向西，青砖木结构，三进二井布局，建筑面积320平方米。[9] 连山县于2011年把它列为第三批县级文物保护单位，广东省则于2022年将它列入第十批省级名单。[9][19] 博雅地名网则记其依客家围楼风格建造，总面积约1000平方米。[10] 新溪一带另有清代的杨愈将墓（第一批县级文物保护单位）和杨氏宗祠（第三批县级文物保护单位）。[19]

博雅地名网把「鹰扬关」「金子山原生态休闲度假景区」列为福堂镇的邻近景点，但两者都不在本镇境内：鹰扬关地处连山西北角的永和镇一带，金子山的地址标为巾子村委会；欧家梯田位于太保镇欧家村。[14][15][16]

著名人物[edit]

杨愈将生于1792年，卒年不详，原名杨汝就，武举出身，是福堂人。[11] 1840年，正值鸦片战争爆发之际，他任虎门要塞沙角炮台的营把总；在抵御英国军舰的激战中身受重伤，事后官至儋州游府。[11] 连山县的历史文化资料称其为福堂肖溪村人。[19]

莫朝玉（1510年至1566年）同为福堂班瓦村人，十六岁即以武功出众，曾倡导民团，征剿各地流寇。[3][19]

文化[edit]

博雅地名网列出的福堂镇民俗文化有「连山小长鼓舞」「打凤梆」「装古事」「连山唱花」「连山丰鼓舞」「连山舞火蛇」，特产有「连山大米」「连山大肉姜」「壮家土猪」「白糍」「荷包肉」「百花冬蜜」。[3] 2024年3月，博雅地名网载福堂镇被命名为「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」。[3]
